“Headed home after a great weekend…”

Thus began Nathan Yount’s facebook post after winning the 2019 National Jeune Commis Competition in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania earlier this month. A 2016 graduate of Clearwater High School, Nathan will be representing the United States in world competition to be held in Calgary, Canada this fall.

While in high school, Nathan studied with Missouri’s 2018 ProStart teacher of the year, Christy Johnson. He continued his education in the East Central College Culinary Arts Program at Union, Missouri and was awarded a scholarship by the Missouri Restaurant Association. Currently working at the St. Louis Country Club under the guidance of award-winning chef Paul Kampff, Nathan is gearing up to match skills with some of the world’s best. “This will be my first time out of the country,” says Yount. “I’m going to practice every second I get. It is truly the biggest competition of my life.”
